Antique Japanese Satsuma Kinkozan Vase. This vase is done in the Satsuma style, and has raised enamel decorations. It is bottom marked with export stamp from Kinkoza of Japan. Kinkozan Satsuma vase, the baluster shaped vases with waisted necks and reserves exquisitely painted in a beautiful palette with figures in traditional narrative scenes, upon a cobalt ground with rich gold scrollwork in low relief. The Kinkozan family have been associated with pottery since 1645. They went on to become the largest producer of Satsuma ware, from the end of the 19th century until 1927 after which the factory closed. Slight damage to sholder.
