The vase has nice details with two panels featuring Japanese figures. Between the panels and on the neck of the vase is an all-over gilt design with flowers. Measures 7 1/4″ high with a 1 1/4″ diameter mouth and a 2 1/8 diameter base. This nice vase is in very good to excellent Estate condition with no noted flaws. There is minor wear to the gilded panels separating the different panels and very faint wear to some of the gilding within the design. Both are very insignificant and are hardly noticed. There is also some faint crazing on the vase which is commonly found on Satsuma pottery pieces. History: Satsuma is a yellowish earthenware usually decorated with detailed Japanese figures with expressive facial features. This ware was generally created for the export marked of the mid-19th Century to cater to Western markets.
